The Skin Integrity Philosophy

Skin Integrity is both a concept and a philosophy. Dr Wassall has a strong interest in both Skin Cancer Medicine and non-invasive Cosmetic Facial Rejuvenation. After completing a Masters Degree in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine, he became increasingly aware that many treatments have a dual purpose in that they provide both a therapeutic and a cosmetic benefit. Examples of this include Medical Strength Chemical Peels and Prescription Strength Skin Rejuvenation. He also realised that using anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers alone for Facial Rejuvenation were effective at reducing some of the signs of ageing, but the overall effect is enhanced when the client also undergoes treatment for sun damage or photo-ageing. Therefore, he is now able to combine a range of treatment techniques to ensure that his patients not only look better, but are also less likely to develop problems with facial skin cancers in the future.

Integrity also defines the way in which Dr Wassall practises medicine. Dr Wassall offers a complete evaluation of treatment alternatives and takes a relevant medical history. The benefits, risks and side-effects should are discussed before informed consent is given by the patient, with no pressure or expectation placed on the patient to undergo the procedure. Dr Wassall strives to practice with the highest ethical and professional standards, having completed postgraduate studies in ethics and professionalism. He will not recommend or perform a procedure believes is not in the client's best interests.

Dr Wassall has received appropriate initial and ongoing training with all the products he uses. Because of the complex musculature of the face, a Skin Cancer or Cosmetic Practitioner should have an understanding of the relevant facial anatomy. Dr Wassall regularly performs skin cancer surgery on the face and has completed a Masters Degree in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine. This degree involved detailed study of facial anatomy and muscle function. This has allowed Dr Wassall to inject products with greater precision.
